Take College-Level Classes

  • NEW STUDENT FIRST TIME IN COLLEGE

    Returning to Chemeketa after being gone two years or more

    Attended another college and transferring your credits to complete a degree at Chemeketa

  • GUEST STUDENT

    Enrolled at another college and wishing to take classes at Chemeketa for your degree

    • Apply for admission as a guest student
      No application fee
      • Select your term
      • Select "for personal enrichment" as your primary reason for attendance
      • Select "no, just taking classes" when asked if you plan to earn a degree or certificate at Chemeketa
      • Select associate degree, bachelor's degree or master's degree under prior college experience
    • Search our classes
    • Fix your registration holds or errors (if applicable)
    • Complete the prerequisite form if any of your courses have prerequisites. You will need –
      • Your unofficial transcript
      • Chemeketa student ID # (K#)
      • Course(s) you want to take
      • Learn more about prerequisites
    • Register for classes
      • Log in to My Chemeketa to set up your Chemeketa email account and check your registration date and time.
    • Arrange for payment
      Payment is due before the first day of the term or within 10 days of registration (whichever is later) to avoid a $25 late fee.
  • COLLEGE CREDIT NOW STUDENT

    Students interested in enrolling in College Credit Now (CCN) courses at their high school

    • Apply for admission to College Credit Now
    • Register for classes in My Chemeketa
    • Arrange for payment
      Take as many classes that are available at your high school for a flat fee of $25 per year. Pay your high school directly when registering for your first CCN class each year.
  • STUDENTS AGES 16-17

    Underage students without a high school diploma or GED who want to enroll in college credit classes

    • Complete the Underage Admission Application (16-17)
      Submit to –
      High School Partnerships (Salem Bldg. 50, Rm. 102)
      OR
      Chemeketa’s Yamhill Valley Campus or Polk or Woodburn Center
    • Take the placement assessment
      Submit your scores to High School Partnerships. To take classes, you must place into at least RD 115, WR115 and MTH095.
    • Register for classes
      Once your packet and placement assessment scores have been received by the Office of High School Partnerships, you will be contacted by phone to enroll.
    • Arrange for payment
      Payment is due before the first day of the term or within 10 days of registration (whichever is later) to avoid a $25 late fee.
    • Enrolling in future terms and classes
      To re-enroll in future terms and classes, you must submit a new underage approval form to the Office of High School Partnerships.
  • STUDENTS AGE 15 & UNDER

    Students ages 15 and under without a high school diploma or GED who want to enroll in college credit classes

    • Complete an underage admission application for student 15 and younger
      Submit to –
      Admissions & Registration (Salem Bldg. 2, Rm. 200)
      OR
      Yamhill Valley Campus (Bldg. 1)

    • After the admission application is processed, you will receive your student ID number (K#) either in person or via email and an Underage Approval Packet (15 and under)
      • Please note: Under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) students in a post-secondary institution have sole ownership over their own academic record regardless of age
      • Students must sign all of their own documents with Chemeketa, including the Underage Application. Parent/Legal Guardian signature will be noted in the Underage Approval Packet (15 and Under)

    • Take the placement assessment
      To take classes, you must place into at least RD 115, WR115 and MTH095.

    • Submit an underage approval packet for 15 & under
      After your admission application is processed, you will receive a student ID number (K#) and an underage approval packet.
      Complete this packet, including –
      • Approval form
      • FERPA release
      • Parent agreement
      • Your placement test scores
        Submit to –
        Executive Dean’s Office (Salem Bldg. 3, Rm. 272)
      • Submission deadlines –
        • Summer term admission - May 15
        • Fall term admission - August 15
        • Winter term admission - November 30
        • Spring term admission - March 1
    • You will be notified of approval or denial by mail within 10 working days. If you’re approved, your notification letter will include the steps to register for classes.

    • Arrange for payment
      Payment is due before the first day of the term or within 10 days of registration (whichever is later) to avoid a $25 late fee.
    • Enrolling in future terms and classes
      • You must successfully complete your class(es) with a grade of C or better to continue your enrollment in Chemeketa’s college-level courses.
      • To re-enroll in future terms and classes, you can get your underage approval form from the Executive Dean’s Office (Salem Bldg. 3, Rm. 272).
  • DUAL ENROLLMENT STUDENT

    Work with advisors from Chemeketa and other universities to earn your degree

    • Meet with advisors from both colleges
      Chemeketa has partnerships with four Oregon universities to offer dual credit opportunities.
      • Oregon Institute of Technology
      • Oregon State University
      • Portland State University
      • Western Oregon University

  • FINISH HIGH SCHOOL- AGES 16-21

    Finish high school through Chemeketa

    • Meet with a High School Programs staff
      There are several ways to finish high school through Chemeketa. To learn more about your options and chose the best fit for you, schedule an appointment in person or by contacting High School Partnerships, 503.399.5293.

  • EARN A GED- AGES 16-17

    Students ages 16-17 who want to earn a GED

    At the Salem Campus
    • Attend orientation
      Attend the GED/high school options pre-testing and orientation
    • Submit application and high school transcript
      Return your completed application and an up-to-date high school transcript to the High School Partnerships Office
    • Underage Approval Packet (16-17)
      or pick up an application at

      • Placement test scores
      • High school transcript(s)
      • College transcript(s), if any
      • Hard copy of Chemeketa’s admissions form (provided at front desk)

    • Transcript evaluation
      Chemeketa’s high school completion advisor will call you to set up an advising appointment to evaluate your transcript.
    • Arrange for payment

  • ADULT GED- AGES 18 & OLDER

    Students ages 18 and older who want to earn a GED

    • Apply for admission to the college
    • Take GED pretests (not the college placement assessment)
    • Schedule and attend an orientation
